…e dalla fronte L’intenerito eroe
tosto si tolse L’elmo, e raggiante
sul terren lo pose…
Iliade, Libro VI, versi 621-623
We are located in the Salento peninsula, the part of Puglia that preserves many traces of ancient traditions and offers a kaleidoscope of irresistible panoramas. Rising up amidst these fragrances and colours is Masseria Capoforte, near to the cities of Taranto and Otranto. This is timeless place, one that charges the emotions and embraces with its elusive, sweet, yet rugged pride. In this part of the world, at the edge of the sea, life moves to a different rhythm and thoughts become clearer, lighter. Vine-rows establish the horizon, caressed by a delicate, uninterrupted sea-breeze, warmed by the sun, enjoying a unique climate ideal for ripening.
A treasure trove of invaluable cultural jewels
Beauty fills both eyes and soul in the Salento, a place where one’s heart naturally expends, that each day nourishes us, amazes us, inebriates us with its classic Mediterranean sensory wealth. Each of our bottles are thus filled with epic echoes of classical history, mixed with a wide-ranging vision, since we realise that greatness is possible only when earth’s qualities are accepted and developed by the creative commitment of man, steward and patron of his art.

Growing while surrounded by the aura of eternity
The works that adorn our area are traces of an ethical and aesthetic attention that has been passed down, testaments of the values we inherit and the inspiration of our daily labour. Intangible as inspiration, yet powerful as structures, they express the very sense of man’s existence, that urge to leave a positive imprint from one’s passing through, in life as in the vineyard. A concrete testament of the constructive input given to the world and to humanity itself.

Scouring the horizon is flying home in the mind’s eye
The sea is the great dominatrix of the Salento, with its ceaseless glistening, its breezes that bear salinity, its raw earth into which our vineyards thrust their roots. Gazing at it, our mind expands, and nature’s embrace welcomes us, with human-like joy, all of us fellow citizens of the blue planet. And when the waves grow fierce, the great deeds of antiquity return to inspire accounts of lashing energy, with all gathered around the crackling hearth.

The stone of the Salento represents the strength that is the hallmark of the peninsula, both in its soils as in its fortresses overlooking the sea. Silent giants rearing up for protecting an ancient people, a solid and powerful sign for those arriving from the sea. An inborn forcefulness that doesn’t hide the fragility of centuries but absorbs all lessons and still reserves the possibility of recounting again, of evocation, of stewardship of what has been, as foundations for what will come.
